Find Suwannee County Jail Releases

To find someone released from Suwannee County Jail, start with the county booking system and then match the result to the record kept by the sheriff. A Suwannee County Jail release ends one local booking, but it does not always mean the person returned to the community. A court order, transfer, or outside hold may control what happened next. Florida state-prison records use a separate statewide system. Clear source boundaries make a Suwannee County Jail release search more useful when reconnecting with someone or documenting the end of custody.

Suwannee Jail Release Paths

Suwannee County Jail is the sheriff-operated adult local detention facility. Its booking can end through bond, recognizance, time served, sentence completion, dismissal, or another court order. It can also end because the person was transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections, another county jail, an immigration custodian, or another agency. Death can close a booking without any community release. The public card's Status: Released and exact Released: timestamp show that Suwannee County Jail stopped holding the person under that booking. Those fields do not, by themselves, identify the destination.

A transfer is not the same as freedom from custody. Check any hold shown on the booking card, note the charge and court case number, and obtain the release or transfer order when the next location matters. A state-prison sentence leads to the Florida Department of Corrections search. Another county hold leads to that county's custodian. The county record is strongest when paired with the later custodian's record and the Suwannee Clerk file.

Important: “Released” confirms the local booking ended. It does not prove unrestricted community presence.

Confirm Suwannee Jail Release

The official starting point is the Sheriff's SmartWEB Jail View. Unlike a current-only roster, SmartWEB supports released bookings and release-date ranges. The landing screen's BOOKED Last 24 Hours count is a booking view. It must not be read as a release list. Use the release mode and read the person-level record.

  1. Choose Released Inmates Only. Enter the narrowest known name and release-date range.
  2. Open a possible match. Compare identity details rather than relying on a similar name.
  3. Confirm Status: Released and copy the exact release timestamp, booking number, and MNI number.
  4. Review holds, charges, arresting agency, and court case number. Do not treat a bond amount as proof that bond caused release.
  5. When destination or method matters, request the booking record, commitment-and-release-list entry, and release or transfer order.

SmartWEB retains photographs and at least some old released cards, yet the Sheriff publishes no guarantee that every historic booking will remain online. An empty result can reflect spelling, date limits, or archive coverage. Try Both Current And Released, then use the formal records route. Broader county search and records steps are covered on the Suwannee County released-inmate search.

Note: SmartWEB's update cadence is unpublished, so confirm time-sensitive results with the jail or records custodian.

Suwannee Jail Release Record

A released SmartWEB card can display a photograph, name, race and sex, booking age, booking and MNI numbers, booking time, release time, bond amount, address given at intake, holds, and arresting agency. Its charge table can include the statute, court case number, charge, degree, level, and charge-level bond. The exact timestamp is useful proof that this booking ended, while the identifiers let the Sheriff's Office find the underlying file.

FieldWhat it establishes
Status and Released timeThe local booking ended at the displayed date and time.
Booking and MNI numbersStable references for a focused sheriff request.
HoldsAnother agency may control the next custody step.
Court case numberThe bridge to the Clerk's disposition and orders.
Bond amountA recorded amount, not proof of payment or release method.

Florida's GS2 records schedule shows that the deeper booking and commitment/release records may contain a scheduled release date, method of release, releasing authority, commitment papers, and “how released.” Inmate incarceration records may also contain property receipts and transfer orders. Booking records, commitment/release lists, and inmate incarceration records have a minimum retention period of one anniversary year after release. Jail docket books are permanent. These are agency retention rules, not a promise that each item stays visible in SmartWEB.

Suwannee Jail Records Contact

For a formal Suwannee County Jail release record, identify the person, booking number if known, approximate booking and release dates, and the exact records sought. Ask for the booking record, commitment-and-release-list entry, recorded release date and time, method or “how released,” releasing authority, and any nonexempt release or transfer order. Electronic copies and a fee estimate can keep the request narrow. Florida law permits redaction of exempt material and does not require the office to create a new analysis.

The Sheriff's public-records page invokes Florida Chapter 119 and gives the custodian route. Section 119.07 allows inspection and copying at reasonable times, requires a good-faith effort to locate existing records, and permits charges within its duplication and special-service framework. No flat local release-record fee or promised turnaround was found. Ask for an estimate before costs accrue.

Note: The jail information line handles custody questions, while the named public-records custodian handles copies of existing records.

Suwannee Release Court Check

The jail card and court file answer different questions. SmartWEB supplies the booking-end time. The court file can explain a dismissal, sentence, time already served, probation order, or transfer commitment. Suwannee's Clerk states that county case files are not posted online. Call the criminal division through 386-362-0500 or inspect the file at the courthouse, using the case number shown on SmartWEB.

Ask for the docket, disposition, judgment and sentence, release order, commitment, and any probation or violation order relevant to the event. A closed case does not establish the precise time jail staff completed release. An open case can coexist with bond release. Time-served wording may explain why custody ended, but the timestamp remains with the jail record. Matching both sources avoids stretching either one beyond what it proves.

Recognizance
Release based on a promise to return, subject to the court's terms.
Time served
Time already spent in custody satisfies the custodial part addressed by the order.
Detainer
A request or hold that can lead to transfer to another custodian.
Discharge
The end of a custody or supervision term, depending on the record.

Suwannee Jail ICE Holds

Suwannee County has a documented local immigration-custody history. A published ICE 287(g) Warrant Service Officer agreement, dated 2019, describes a process intended to support custodial transfer from the jail to ICE when criminal custody was scheduled to end. The document proves the agreement and its history. It does not establish that each term remained unchanged later.

When a SmartWEB card shows an ICE hold, a Suwannee County Jail release can mark a handoff rather than a return to the community. Record the county release time, request the transfer record, and check the ICE Online Detainee Locator using a nine-digit A-number and country of birth or exact biographical details. ICE says its locator can include current and recently released people, but delays and omissions occur. A missing result is not enough to rule out a transfer.

County, state, and federal sources should stay distinct. SmartWEB documents the Suwannee booking. FDC documents Florida prison custody. ICE documents the immigration locator status within its limits.

Suwannee Jail Record History

The current jail operates at Pine Avenue under the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office, but local confinement history is much older. The county's published history describes a jail built on the courthouse grounds in 1869 and another jail built in 1938 that served for more than 55 years. That history helps explain why an old Suwannee record may belong to a prior building or record series rather than the present web portal.

SmartWEB is the modern local advantage. It combines current and released modes, exact release timestamps, date fields, photographs, booking identifiers, holds, and charge details. Still, it is a view into agency data, not the full case file. For an old event, ask whether the release survives in the booking record, one-year commitment/release series, or permanent jail docket. The record's date and custodian matter more than the building name alone.

The age of a card also affects the verification plan. A recent record may be visible by name and date, while a much older record may require the booking number, MNI number, or permanent docket reference. If the online card lacks a release reason, do not fill the gap with the charge, bond amount, or later court status. Request the field that was actually recorded. A narrow request for the commitment-and-release entry and any transfer order gives the custodian a clear task and keeps unrelated personal details out of the response.

When two custody episodes exist for the same person, record each booking separately. One Suwannee County Jail release timestamp does not resolve a later booking, another agency hold, or a new court order. Matching the booking number, case number, and date prevents facts from separate episodes from being combined.
